Persian-speaking pastoral leader

Brother Dariush Bahrami

Brother Dariush leads the Persian-speaking community of St. Luke Lutheran Church. From the day he came to faith in Jesus Christ, he considered himself a faithful soldier of the Lord and devoted himself fully to the ministry of the Word.

He often says that when Christ himself leads a church, people are naturally drawn to it — because they see the believers' love, and in them, the face of Christ. "All of Christianity," he says, "is summed up in one word: love."

Over the years, Brother Dariush has guided many Iranians newly arrived in Canada into a living faith. He keeps God's door open to all, with patience and humility — to those who have believed for decades, and to those still searching.

Sister Mona (Maryam Bahrami)

Sister Mona has stood alongside Brother Dariush from the very beginning of this community, helping found this Persian-speaking fellowship within St. Luke's with only a handful of believers, and building it up ever since with love and dedication.

"When I came to faith in Christ," she says, "I realized God's hand had been on my life since childhood. To live close to Christ is to live a life full of love — a love God places in our hearts himself."

Sister Mona plays an active role in the community's programs, event coordination and walking alongside families, always with an open door. She has a particular heart for Iranians newly arrived in Canada who haven't yet found a spiritual home, helping them belong here and grow among brothers and sisters in faith.
